Bittersweet!! 2007 Region 6AAAAA Meet
The end of the regular season proved to be dramatic indeed for the Roswell Cross Country Team. After months of running in brutal heat, on holidays, and in the darkness of early morning, the season boiled down to performances on this one day. Unfortunately, for the boys, they missed state by the tiniest of margins... one point! And despite the disappointing end, we still need to look over the season, see that the boys made huge gains, and know they helped establish a new mindset... that making State Meet will become the expectation each season going forward. We are extremely proud of the boys team!
On the other end of the emotional spectrum, the girls team finished a school best 2nd place at the region meet and are packing their bags for Carrollton. We are delighted with the girls performance and eagerly look forward to Saturday's trip.
Individually, as might be expected, the team placed a number of runners on the All Region Team. For the JV girls, Sumner Green, for the varsity boys, Spencer Keel and Zach Rohm, and for the varsity girls, Ridley Green, Devon King, Christina Dooley, and Jessica Muse. Congratulations to these runners and the entire team.
Ridley Green running a personal best 19:30 led the Roswell girls team to a strong 8th place finish at the Coach Wood Invitational. The girls, even without Christina Dooley, finished ahead of all but 7 of the 50+ teams competing Saturday.
For the Boys, Spencer Keel once again led the way for the boys, running 16:28, another personal best for him. Also running well were Zach Rohm, 16:51, Michael Duley, 17:25, and Ryan Brockwell, who ran an amazing personal best of 17:28. The boys, running without Andrew Lassage, finished 10th in the boys championship race. Their times bested all but 12 of the 50+ schools competing. Eight boys and four girls ran personal bests at the meet!
Go Hornets!
Ridley Races to the Finish

Keel Wins Fulton Co Championship- Boys finish 3rd
A big congratulations to Spencer Keel who won the individual Fulton County Championship yesterday at Webb Bridge Park, and to the entire boys team who almost pulled off a huge upset finishing in a tie for 2rd one point from first. Even though the boys team lost the tie-breaker to Centennial, they all ran terrific races. This put them right in the mix for a berth to the state meet next month.
Roswell Runs Well at UGA
The Roswell team ran very well at the Bulldog Stampede Sat, with the boys varsity finishing 6th in the large school division and the girls finishing 3rd. Arriving late to the meet probably cost the boys a 4th place finish since they unfortunately and literally had to run from the bus to the starting line. Despite this, Spencer Keel led the way for Roswell and finished a respectable 13th while Zach Rohm also ran well at 17:20 on the tough UGA course.
The girls were led by Ridley Green who turned in a stellar performance finishing 11th while three of her teammates, Christina Dooley, Devon King, and Jessica Muse all finished in the top 20! The girls were edged out of 2nd by 12 points by Chapel Hill who they had beaten last week.
The real fun, though came in the boys and girls JV races where Jake Martin won the race in 18:31 and the boys finished 2nd overall! Jake took the led from the beginning and while he lost it briefly, regained it after the two mile mark and never looked back. The girls team capped off the day by winning the JV race with Whitney Sweet racing to a second place finish! Roswell had five girls in the top eight to score only 27 points in the field of 12 teams. Congratulations to all our runners who are performing at higher and higher levels! This weekend the team will be taking a much deserved week off before some of the team travels to Disney for a race on Oct 6.
Girls' Varsity Wins West GA Challenge! Girls now ranked 6th in the State!
The Roswell team had a great day at Clinton Farms winning the varsity girls' competition and finishing third in the varsity boys and JV boys races. Christina Dooley and Ridley Green finished 3rd and 4th in the girls' race . Jessica Muse and Devon King ran 10th and 11th and Chelsea Wagennbrenner ran a PR for 20th place to seal the victory over four ranked teams at the race.
On the boys' side Spencer Keel finished second and Michael Dooley 5th, both breaking 16 minutes. Andrew Lagasse finished 15th becoming the fourth Hornet runner this year to run 17 minutes or better. Matthew Johnson finished 10th in the 3K race in 10:30 and Ryan Brockwell had a strong finish at 10:35. All in all it was a memorable day for Roswell with many very good performances.
